Courtesy of Uncle Bill:SYMPTOMSYou are distributing a Visual Basic application that includes a data report. After installation, you receive the following error when you attempt to open the data report from your application:Run-time error '713': Application-defined or object defined errorCAUSEThe Data Report run-time file (Msdbrptr.dll) was not included in your setup package.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, use one of the following methods:Open your project, and include a reference to the Msdbrptr.dll file. This file is listed as Microsoft Data Report Designer v6.0 in the References dialog box.
You may see Microsoft Data Report Designer v6.0 listed more than once. Make certain that the file associated with the reference is Msdbrptr.dll. Once the reference has been verified, rebuild your setup package.-or-Manually include the Msdbrptr.dll file in the Package and Deployment Wizard (PDW). You can add the file manually in the Included Files dialog box window when you run the PDW and then rebuild your setup package. After the installation, the following files should be present on the target system in the indicated folders:Msdbrptr.dllCommon FilesDesignersMsderun.dllMsstdfmt.dllThe inclusion of Msdbrptr.dll (and its dependent files) typically corrects this problem. If you are still experiencing problems, make sure that the following files are included in your package:Msdatrep.ocxMsbind.dllData Reports do not directly depend on these files. However, if the files are missing, this can affect the Data Environment that is used by your report.NOTE: If your application must have the Msdatsrc.tlb file, do not explicitly include this file because Msdatsrc.tlb is installed as part of the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) upgrade.
Now, I guess I am really dumb.I installed the MDAC on my boss's computer and I still get that error.Uncle Bill,What is the PDW? I have clicked everywhere in my project and can't figure it out. Also, I clicked on the references you mentioned and have no clue what to do after that.Let me give you a detail of what I have:I have and MDI form and two child forms then I have my Datareport as a child also.Attached is what I have, if you can figure it out. It is messy but it works except for the Run-time error on my boss's machine and another minor one which I will work on at a later time. The issue is the opposite.
I had a similar probelm.Windows XP uses MDAC version 2.7 while Win2k uses the MDAC 2.5 or 2.6, which is why you are having the issues(I assume)Anyways, MDACTYP.exe is Microsoft Data Access ComponentsYou can download version 2.7 from microsoft's website. Then you would need to install it on the machine you are developing it with.Stick the MDACTYP.exe (version 2.7) in the Package and Deployment Wizard's folder so it always gets distributed when an application is deployedyou should find it in this directory:c:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual StudioVB98WizardsPDWizardRedist.
When answering a question please:. Read the question carefully. Understand that English isn't everyone's first language so be lenient of badspelling and grammar. If a question is poorly phrased then either ask for clarification, ignore it, oredit the question and fix the problem. Insults are not welcome. Don't tell someone to read the manual.
Chances are they have and don't get it.Provide an answer or move on to the next question.Let's work to help developers, not make them feel stupid.
I've been trying to get Visual C working, but I'm getting this error when building every project: 'This project is out of date' 'Would you like to build it?' It fails to build every time. When I rebuild, the build still fails, although in the logger I don't notice any error messages, which makes me think its not logging properly (I'm using a third party program to log).I've followed some of the instructions here: and enabled logging.I'm getting this error: project not up to date because 'insert file name here'.lastbuildstate is missing.
Note that in actual visual studio, there is nothing logged. I was unable to find anything on this in google. It may be that I incorrectly enabled logging, but I feel that this is the error. What are 'tlog' files?' You should let Visual Studio tell you why it needs to rebuild. Visual Studio 2015 has built in support for this:.
Tools (menu). Options. Project and Solution. Build and RunChange MSBuild project build output verbosity to Detailed or Diagnostics. In my case it printed a message like this: 1- Up-To-Date check: Project: xyz, Configuration: xyz -1Project not up to date because build input 'C:wsMissing.h' is missing. And removing that header from the project fixed the problem. To get this information in older Visual Studio versions, you need to use DebugView and modify devenv.exe.config (see Colin Smith's answer: ). Note that this solution does NOT work for Visual Studio 2015. How does fallout 4 hacking work.
